A fall garden is something I have never done before. I usually plant in spring and end whenever the crops stop producing. This year however we had a heat wave that seriously altered the production of my garden and I decided I needed to work on a second wave, as it was, a fall garden.
After doing some research online, I came up with a list of fall garden appropriate plants. Basically the idea is to start 2-3 weeks + growth time before your freeze date, so most seeds should be planted right now in mid July. To find the freeze dates in your area, check here.
|Cilantro||50-55 / 90-105 seeds|
|Lettuce||40-50 leaf / 70-85 head|
|Onions||60-80 / 130-150 seeds|
I’m planning on trying my hand at carrots, cilantro, green onions and possibly onions depending on what I can find this late in the season. If you want more hard data and some other vegetable choices, check out the links below.
