For me there is nothing as natural that sates my sweet tooth any better than a smoothie. I love to make these for snacks, on the go meals ( eco cup) or breakfast when eggs simply will not do and I have enough willpower left to not run out and buy donuts.
If you’re like me you are always looking for the perfect smoothie recipe to capture the delicious flavors of the season. The more I play with the ingredients, adding healthy things, sweet things or any number of different thickeners I find that the more simple the recipe is, the better it seems to taste.
I didn’t include any measurements here because this is really something you should do by taste. I used approximately 1/2 cup of each fruit, 1/2 cup of yogurt and 1 1/2 cups of ice, but you should play around with the consistency until you have something you enjoy. I’ve seen a lot of recipes that include frozen fruit, little to no ice or tons of ice. I personally like my smoothies thick enough to pass for a milkshake, so I add a lot of ice. If you’re looking for something thinner, you can leave out the ice entirely. If you want something even thicker or with a zing try greek yogurt or even frozen yogurt.
There is no chopping involved, just remove any part of the fruit you don’t want to eat, add it to the blender with yogurt and blend lightly. The longer you blend it the more liquid it will become. Add ice and blend until the pieces are small enough for your own tastes.
