As I mentioned in my last post, I had an extra half quart of marinara left over from canning yesterday. I popped it in the fridge and decided to make it today. I had to test out the recipe after all! It was a good mix, but it was sorely missing the garlic I left out. I added some dried garlic to the mix and it was just not enough. I will have to add fresh garlic whenever I make the sauce.
The pasta in the pictures are penne marinara using ground turkey as the meat. We’ve been trying to eat healthier for a while now and I tend to replace anything I would normally use hamburger or sausage for that is heavily seasoned with ground turkey to cut back on fat and calories. It makes fantastic tacos as well.
All I did was brown the meat, add the sauce, garlic and some parmesan and let it heat up while the pasta boiled. I topped it with a little shredded mozzarella.
