If you enjoy cooking for your family and all natural recipes you’re going to love this one. It is bar none the easiest recipe for making bread and pizza dough out there. There is no kneading, no multiple rise phases, no special tools or ingredients. It is so easy, you will want to get your children involved.
6 cups flour
1 1/2 tbs dry yeast
1 1/2 tbs salt
3 cups of warm water
That’s it. Those are everything you will need to make an excellent pizza dough or a plain loaf of bread. A few notes on the ingredients before we begin, use warm water, not hot water, luke warm is fine. You can use kosher salt or plain table salt, but not high sodium salts like sea salt. You can use almost any kind of flour out there for this recipe, with the exception of self rising flour. In this recipe, I use enriched white flour and whole wheat flour. It works just as well with plan flour, bleached or unbleached, wheat flour, Rye flour, you name it.
Add the ingredients to a large containerwith a lidit needs to be a minimum of five quarts, but six is better. It needs plenty of room to rise. There is no special order to add the ingredients, mix them all together with a large spoon, lay the lid on the bowl loosely, don’t seal it, the gasses need to escape. Allow the dough to rise for 2 hours. Et viola, you’re done. The dough is ready to be used as soon as it has risen. You can even store the dough in the fridge for up to two weeks. If you’re as messy as I am when handling flour, I recommend wearing an apron.
In the next post, I will talk about different uses for this basic dough.
