I thought I would share some images of my garden before the summer season comes to an end. Though I should use the term end loosely here as the highs this week have been in the 90’s, which is quite a confusing feeling for September. First, we have red bell peppers, this plant nearly died during the drought, but has come back fully since then. As you can see there are several peppers on the vine waiting to ripen.
Most of my tomatoes died or hit a zero production zone. Out of all of them, the romas are the only tomatoes producing fruit now. Check out this crazy looking tomato, they all have quite a personality when it comes to shape.
Recently a friend gave me a medium sized basil plant that has absolutely taken off. It’s huge and I am getting close to pruning a good bunch of it to make up some pesto!
Next, we have my grape vine. This guy seemed fine after the heat wave, but weeks later started showing signs of problems. Apparently they take a long time to actually show damage done to them. Since then it has mostly gone back to thriving with the exception of quite a lot of half dead leaves. I tied this plant along the beam behind it with some jute cord right before this picture.
Are you working on a fall garden this year? I would love to hear about it.
