I’ve been working on my garden in the past few days, moving seedlings for my fall garden into a small greenhouse to give them the best chance as the weather cools off. I purchased the greenhouse 75% off on clearance for $5, which was amazing.
I finally got around to plucking the leaves off of a bunch of mint I dried. I finally had an empty spice jar to put them in. Since I finished that batch up, I trimmed my basil and mint down to dry some more. It really is remarkable how easy it is to dry fresh herbs to store for winter. I often see people running them through dehydrators or the oven, but in all honesty all you have to do is tie a bunch together and hang it until it is thoroughly dried out.
My darling grandmother makes things for other people, she crochets hats and baby blankets for new babies at the hospital, she makes beautiful quilts for our family, of which four, as well as two blankets and a gorgeous hand crocheted rose garden afghan. She decided it was time to make a quilt for my husband, who is a very much denim and t-shirt kind of person. So, she made him a denim quilt using squares of fabric from old jeans. I think it is beautiful and as you can see our oldest cat, Robin approves of it very much.
