I love vintage decor and I love decorating for Christmas, so this year, I went out of my way to collect little doo dads from antique stores and flea markets to make the holiday special. The one thing I couldn’t seem to find with that sort of vintage style I was looking for was stocking holders. Mostly the ones I came across were very large and might as well have taken batteries they looked so overdone.
I decided to make my own stocking holder fix using a pair of brass hooks and extra large command strips. Please note, command strips have a weight rating, the largest of which is 5lbs, so this is not ideal for extra heavy stockings.
It’s pretty straight forward, peel off the back of the strip, attach the it to the surface you want to hang your item, peel off the front of the strip and press your hook on. Wait one hour and you are ready to go. Command hooks won’t damage your surface, so they make a great temporary solution when you don’t want to screw hooks in permanently to your mantle.
If the white dot from the screw hole bothers you, use a sharpie to color in the strip. What kind of tricks do you use to decorate for Christmas? I would love to hear them.
